Description:
Japanese folktale about the birth of the art of origami (摺紙, "folding paper") - about how a wise man cured a boy by making him a paper pup.
Akairo (赤郎) - the literal translation of “red baby”, in a figurative meaning corresponds to the dog's nickname “buddy”, which is found in Russia. And Hanasaka-sensei (花咲先生) is a literal translation of “flower smile” + "the elder". The puppets were created in the style of netsuke (根付) figures.

This one really surprised me.
About the only thing I wish had been done differently is the music in the introductory scene with the spirits tormenting the boy - that really should have been traditional percussive Japanese music.
Other than that, I think it's a little masterpiece.
