Description:

Fedya Zaytsev drew a little man on the wall of the classroom, but he was afraid of responsibility, kept silent about his act and put his comrade in a spot. When Fedya comes back home, all toys and heroes of his favourite books leave him...

A moral "educative" tale, but also a break away from rotoscoping and social realism. A landmark animation for the Brumbergs. They later remade it into a feature film in 1960.

In fact, this film marks both the beginning of the obviously rotoscoped period of Soviet animation (along with Tsehanovskiy's The Flower with Seven Colours, made that same year), and also a rebellion against it, given that around half of it consists of very non-realistic childish drawings.

The videos above are the restoration released by Soyuzmultfilm in 2025 (a colour-corrected version of an earlier restoration done by Gosfilmofond).
