A little horse helps Ivan, a peasant's son, carry out the many unreasonable demands of the Tsar. A remake of the 1947 film, based on Yershov's 1834 verse-novel.

The 1947 film was in degraded condition by the 1970s, and good restoration technology was not yet available, so Ivanov-Vano decided to refilm it, basically with the same scenes but drawn anew. There was also one extra big section added near the end that was in the original text but not in the 1947 film, so it is 13 minutes longer than in 1947.

The above two video links is 25fps, but there is also another scan that is 24fps (timed 1:13:51). One of the English subtitles on the right is specifically for that version. Note that the subtitles aren't quite in sync with the 2nd video, later on. The first video also has other films at the end of it, after the main film ends.

Click here to watch the first American English dub (note, the script is very different from the Russian version! A lot more talking, and less poetry)
