Description:
A goose envies many other birds and trades his beak for a pelican's, his tail for the peacock's one, his legs for stork's... A satire on vanity, written by Vladimir Suteyev.
The following year, a beloved children's book adaptation was first published with Suteyev's drawings, in which the ending differs from the cartoon (the goose realizes his folly when he's noticed and attacked by a fox, is unable to properly run away, and is only saved by the other geese coming to rescue him). It can be read here.
The title is a familiar Russian phrase that can refer to an odd person, similar to English phrases like "He's a strange bird", or "Cool sort of bird, that one".
