When I saw story The Orphan Boy, I was surprised at its similarity to The Fairy Gourd 1. In the words of anthropologists, there was some interaction between the Mongols and the peoples of Southeast Asia, but of course it had to be through the very important catalyst of China.

Since the late 1980s, when the government eliminated subsidy plans, Vietnam Animation Studio fell into a very miserable situation and was even at risk of dissolution. However, this problem further stimulates pioneering creative ideas to help the Vietnamese animation industry approach and integrate into the world.

Also in these years, young Vietnamese audiences were quite fond of fairytale films due to receiving the long-term influence of Czechoslovak cinema, therefore, the trend of Vietnamese cinema and television began to produce films in that genre.

This film is based on a very famous folktale in Vietnam. Through the film, cinematographers want to send a message about administrative reform and even criticize seemingly trivial habits that corrupt social morality.
