Description:

The clever pioneer boy Kolya Homyakov takes part in an interplanetary flight of the professor of astronomy Bobrov. The task of the expedition is to find a lost rocket that had an accident when researching the lunar surface.

In the early 1950s, rocket science brought the possibilities of flying to the moon into a realistic and exciting perspective. The scientific consultant involved in making the film added some realistic, scientifically-based fun elements into the animation.

A comic based on the cartoon, with the same title, was released in 1969 (it can be read here). The plot also has many similarities to a 1935 live-action film by Vasiliy Zhuravlyov ("Space Flight" / Космический рейс).
