The film was put into production shortly before the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, after which it was closed. Its creator, Gennady Tishchenko (who was the screenwriter, director, art director, one of the two animators, and one of the actors) was forced to soften the topic of the danger of the effects of radiation, but even after that the film was shelved without being released. Only in 2011 was a video copy made available (together with the sci-fi magazine "Mir fantastiki" #4), and in 2015 a copy was uploaded to RuTracker with the blessing of the director.
