Description:

A late-Soviet, anti-government political satire which depicts, by means of grotesque and comical visual juxtapositions, the danger of presenting truth in small doses.

In the preamble of the film, the superstructure of yesterday's state apparatus is presented in the form of a pyramid, which instead of an athlete is supported by the well-known sculpture Worker and Kolkhoz Woman. Symbols of history on this pyramid: Stalin, Khrushchov, Brezhnev. In the meeting rooms, dolls mindlessly vote in automatic mode, picking up mandates. Pompous demonstrations, slogans. And finally, the fall of Brezhnev's mannequin, which destroys the whimsical pyramid.

The politics of perestroika and glasnost in the late 1980s allowed such artistic expressions. However, the USSR Goskino for a long time did not give permission for the demonstration of the film in cinemas and on television.

This film toured the US and Canada in 1989-1990 along with some other Ukrainian animated films as part of the "Glasnost Film Festival", after which copies of the films remained in libraries along the route. Some contemporary press mentions: Ukrainian Weekly (Oct 11, 1992. p.12), Echoes of Glasnost in Soviet Ukraine (1989. p.189), Canada's Newspaper for Ukrainian Students (Sept/Oct 1990. p.7) (search text for "Krupnym planom").

The intertitles are Ukrainian, but the dialogue is in Russian except for the Ukrainian-language speech between 2:54-3:02 and 8:11-8:22.
