Biography:

An artist with a tragic fate. After studying painting at the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan (graduating in 1979), he moved to Moscow, where he worked as a street sweeper and exhibited his paintings on Arbat Street alongside other artists. He graduated from the Moscow State Pedagogical University (Graphic Arts Department) in 1991. He then studied animation at the School of Advanced Studies for Screenwriters and Directors in the workshop of Yuriy Norshteyn and Eduard Nazarov, finishing his diploma film in 1995. In the 1990s and early 2000s, he managed to make several very touching and sentimental animated films, working with various studios. Some were based on his personal experience of living in Moscow - Amanov lovingly depicts the city in his works. In 2008, he suffered a heart attack... Friends who were animators wrote about Agamurat Amanov in their LiveJournal blogs. Mihail Tumelya called Amanov "a touching, sincere person with a funny accent, who got into strange situations and made simple, kind cartoons." Mihail Aldashin recounts: "We painted portraits together on the street. I sometimes spent the night at his place, in a damp apartment with caved-in floors on the ground floor. Brown paintings of his homeland, Turkmenistan, hung on the walls."
