A translation of the Ukrainian version of the film based on the earlier 2008 Russian subs, but with changes where the script differs. ayri helped to transcribe some of the Ukrainian dialogue.
The line at 5:27 and the following one were very tricky. "Булькну" as a term doesn't exactly exist in English (with the same meaning), but there are some similar terms. Translating it literally was always an option, but it sounded awkward. "Spluttered" was strongly considered, but it was a little too different and not something one is likely to say about oneself. "Bubble up" or "bubble over" was also possible (e.g. my indignation is bubbling over), but all the options with it seemed too long for that line. The final choice was "kick up a fuss", even though it has nothing to do with bubbles, since that's something that's "actiony" (like "булькну"), but also of not much use when you're underwater, as it only muddies the waters (which reinforces a central theme of the film - this action only hinders the main character, and prevents him from seeing things clearly). And also, the main character does a kick-off right after saying that line. But a good "bubbly" term was used in the very next line - "Give me more worms, I'm bubbling with anger!" - "bubbling with anger" is a very widely-known expression in English, and it seemed close enough in meaning to the original, plus it's funny just like the original line.
