Description:
A lion and nine hyenas capture 10 cows on a hunt together. The lion divides them as he sees best, but the hyenas decide to protest. Based on African folk tale as retold by Viktor Vazhdayev, with art direction by Anatoliy Petrov.
The Russian-language translation/retelling of the African folk tale that the film is based on can be read in its entirety here. The art director for this film was Galina Barinova's husband Anatoliy Petrov; after his previous film Heracles Visits Admetus went overtime and over budget due to its difficult technique, he wasn't allowed to direct any films for two years and spent that time working as art director on others' films.
