When I saw story The Orphan Boy, I was surprised at its similarity to The Fairy Gourd 1. In the words of anthropologists, there was some interaction between the Mongols and the peoples of Southeast Asia, but of course it had to be through the very important catalyst of China.

Story of the Jade Hares is an animated film produced by Vietnam Animation Studio in 1967. It is often considered a sequel to Soon There Will Be Rain. The film is also a metaphor for the life situation at that time.

On the night of Mid-Autumn Festival, while the animals were dancing and singing happily, the Bear appeared and swallowed the Moon. In the early 2000s, Vietnam Animation Studio began a very drastic generational transition to find resilience for the entire country's animation industry. The most advanced international film production methods have been imported so that the next generation has more opportunities to develop their potential. However, national identity and educational mission were still considered guiding principles in their profession. Film "The Clay Chicken" can be considered the final work of the older generation of artists who experienced the ups and downs of the postwar era and years of economic reform.

The film was made entirely on traditional poonah papers, at the same time, most of the scenes and characters in it were also reproductions of the traditional. The characteristics of this type of paper are gray and rough so it can only be used for painting. However, the artisans added a layer of lime and shell powder to make it more durable, even sparkling in the sun.

The film's story is filled with the sound of a new spring, which is as a belief in the bright future of the country and the young generation. It has folk games, some customs to welcome Lunar New Year, but it also seems to contain sighs of anxiety about the trend of massive industrialization and urbanization, which is gradually narrowing the space of the countryside.

The Powder General

Tò-he (面塑, "toy figures") is a long-standing folk toy of Northern Vietnamese people. These are simply animals or sometimes characters created with rice flour mixed with water paint. Usually, the artist will attach a very small bamboo whistle to this toy so that kids can blow it for fun. However, in this story, because of a little mistake by the artist, the children almost lost a precious game.

The Secret in the Lakebed

A serious mine explosion occurred in the middle of the lake, what accidentally stimulating the terrible growth of pests that harm crops. Faced with that situation, the Pioneer Squad decided to dive in the lakebed for investigation. They discovered a fortified base run by a mad scientist, so the group determined to destroy it to return spring to the primeval forest.

This second episode was produced in 1993, which is based on a Khmer folktale about a battle between hares and other animals in the forest. In this part, Wolf's Wife appears for the first time, but the purpose is to highlight the patriarchal character in foolishness by Wolf.
